From the President's Desk...

Yearling sales season is now in full swing with a significant number of those going through the ring being those of our members. We wish our members the best of luck for the coming couple of months.

The number of yearlings available to purchase is up substantially on last season and both APG and Nutrien have been active in providing incentives for sellers and buyers with substantial sales race purses for both gaits available in 2023 and 2024. It will be interesting to see how this effects averages and clearance rates with the APG sale in Brisbane having a terrific average but a poor clearance rate with many of the yearlings passed in, often with substantial reserves.

The breeding season has come to a close and we need to thank all of the studs and breeding farms and their people for their hard work over the last five months. It is a 24-hour thing for many during this time with foals appearing at all hours of the night, collection of stallions three times per week and the distribution of semen across the country.
