Attention 2023 Nutrien Yearling Preparers!

Harness Breeders Victoria, with Barastoc, BetaVet and Nutrien Equine are pleased to be sponsoring four awards to the best presented yearlings in the Woodlands Stud Nutrien Yearling Parade on Saturday 1 April 2023.

This series, recognising the best presented colt and filly of each gait, is designed to reward the efforts of staff within the industry who prepare yearlings for the sales.

Every horse in the Melbourne catalogue is eligible to win one of four Awards, with judge Dr James Gilkerson (Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at University of Melbourne), will make his selection using the following criteria:

• Conformation, muscle development and athleticism

• Presentation of the handler

• Coat condition

• Behaviour during inspection and presentation during parade

• Overall impression

The four winners will receive a trophy from HBV, a garland from Nutrien and products from the other sponsors, Barastoc and BetaVet.

These awards are part of a broader initiative being developed by HBV to reward, encourage, educate and retain those within the Standardbred breeding industry.
