Attention 2022 Nutrien Yearling Preparers!

Harness Breeders Victoria, with Barastoc and Nutrien Equine are please to present four awards to the best presented yearlings in the Woodlands Stud Nutrien Yearling Parade on Saturday 2 April 2022.

This inaugural series, recognising the best presented colt and filly of each gait, is designed to reward the efforts of staff within the industry who prepare yearlings for the sales.

All horses in Saturday's Yearling Parade will be eligible and assessed by our esteemed judge, Dr Charlie El-Hage (Honourary Fellow, Veterinary Clinical Medicine & Surgery - University of Melbourne).

Dr El-Hage will be judging on the following criteria:

* Coat condition
* Muscle development and athleticism
* Conformation
* Presentation of handler and farm
* Behaviour during inspection
* Presentation during parade
* Overall impression

The four winners will receive a trophy from HBV and six bags of quality feed courtesy of Barastoc.

These awards are part of a broader initiative being developed by HBV to reward, encourage, educate and retain those within the Standardbred breeding industry.
