Trotting Sale Feedback Requested

Harness Racing Victoria established the Australasian Premier Trotting Sale some years ago for breeders and other vendors to sell their stock via a yearling sale auction platform. HRV are undertaking a review of the structure of the sale and would like feedback from vendors, purchasers, breeders and other interested parties.

We must RECEIVE your correspondence before COB on Wednesday 22 August in order to comply with HRV's timeline.

PROPOSALS

At HRV’s request, APG have developed two options for cost structures for the sale, as follows:

• A “Base Option” that largely mirrors the cost structure that applied to HRV’s APTS in 2018; and
• A “Value Added” option that incorporates added services (such as pre-sale APGTVcoverage, live online bidding, APG’s online flipbooks and a Group 1 3yo RaceSeries with the potential for prizemoney of up to $100,000)

PROPOSED FEE STRUCTURE & SALES SERVICES

BACKGROUND

Harness Racing Victoria (HRV) ran a very successful sale at Melton in 2018, noting that:

• The sale average of $21,490 was a 41.6% increase on 2017
• Sixty yearlings went through the ring, eight more than 2017
• The top lot fetched $90,000 compared to the 2017 top sale price of $55,000.
• All up, $1,074,500 in total sales were recorded (over $400,000 more than 2017), with a clearance rate of 83 per cent (up 8% on 2017).
• 21 of 50 sold at $20,000-plus, compared to 12 out of 41 sold at $20,000-plus in 2017

As part of the evolution of the APTS, HRV is intending to engage APG with their resources and
systems to conduct the sale in 2019, based on the following:

• The Sale will be conducted at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, 10 March 2019
• The Sale will be conducted as a stand-alone sale, restricted solely to trotting yearlings
• The Sale will retain the name “Australasian Premier Trotting Sale” (APTS)
• The Sale will have its own stand-alone sales catalogue
