Introducing Always B Miki

It takes two to make a foal – we’ve met Gracie (Arms Of An Angel) and now it’s time to find out a bit about your pacing foal’s pappa, world champion stallion Always B Miki!

Always B Miki

Always B Miki is the Usain Bolt of the horse world – he is the fastest horse OF ALL TIME. And – AND – is the only horse to ever have recorded a time of 1:47 or better more than once: he did it a breezy four times! He was awarded the USA Horse of the Year in 2016 and his trainer, Jimmy Takter, claimed, “I think this could be the greatest horse that ever lived.”

He earnt over $2.8 million dollars in his racing career and won classic races in Northern America like the Breeders Crown (twice), the Ben Franklin Pace, the Mohawk Cold Cup and the Jim Ewart Memorial. US Trotting did a great profile on Always B Miki as a racehorse:

Combined with Arms Of An Angel's ability, it’s safe to say your foal has pretty good potential! Always B Miki is only in his second year as a sire, so his first babies were born in north America earlier this year, and are only just starting to be born in Australia and New Zealand now.

He is what is referred to as a shuttle stallion – he stands at stud in Australia at Alabar Farms near Echuca in northern Victoria where his semen is collected several times a week, processed and then sent all over Australasia for mares to be artificially inseminated (AI) by specially trained vets. This process is quite different from Thoroughbred breeding which is all done with natural services; the benefits of AI include less stress on the mare (with travelling, new environments etc) and less risk for the stallion (mares can give a nasty kick), and better access to good quality stallions for breeders regardless of their location.

Always B Miki

Once the breeding season in Australia finishes in January, Always B Miki will be driven down to Tullamarine and travel with International Racehorse Transport in a special plane back to America where he will stand the northern hemisphere breeding season at Diamond Creek Farm in Pennsylvania.

Want a sneak peak at some of your foals’ older brothers and sisters? Take a look at this album on our Facebook Page with some of Always B Miki’s foals from Diamond Creek Farm and Alabar and while you’re there, take a guess at what colour your foal will be when he-she arrives…
