About HBV

Harness Breeders Victoria (HBV) is the representative body for the Standardbred breeding industry in the state, and is the legislated kindred body for consultation with Harness Racing Victoria. We do our best to ensure that the interests of Victorian broodmare owners and studmasters are proposed and represented when decisions are being made at State and National level that impact on our participants.

Our main areas of operation are:

  • Representing the interests of the Victorian breeding industry
  • Keeping members and the broader community informed, through publications Trackbred - The Breeder's Journal and the Australasian Standardbred Stallion Guide, online through the website and social media, and regular email and postal newsletters
  • Encouraging the maintenance of a female racing population, mainly through sponsorship of mare and filly races across Victoria and including a rich series of metropolitan feature races
  • Recognising excellence in Victorian breeding through an annual Awards Night

HBV is an incorporated association with an elected Executive, a full Committee and a membership base of over 590. You can view more about the Committee and HBV's governance here.
